भारतातील विमानतळे सुरळीत चालवण्यासाठी, देखभाल करण्यासाठी आणि नवे विमानतळ उभारण्यासाठी केंद्र सरकारने एक संस्था स्थापन केली आहे, ती म्हणजे भारतीय विमानतळ प्राधिकरण (AAI).
AAI ची स्थापना:
भारतीय विमानतळ प्राधिकरणाची स्थापना 1 एप्रिल 1995 रोजी झाली. ह्या संस्थेची स्थापना दोन संस्थांना एकत्र करून झाली –

मुख्य उद्दिष्ट:
AAI चे मुख्य उद्दिष्ट म्हणजे देशभरातील विमानतळांची योग्य देखभाल करणे, आधुनिक तंत्रज्ञान वापरून त्यांचा विकास करणे आणि प्रवाशांना सुरक्षित, आरामदायी सेवा पुरवणे.
